Tristram

Hi, my name's Tristram ("Sam" to my friends) from Vancouver, Canuckistan.

I was introduced to miniature wargaming via Warhammer Fantasy 3rd edition back in the late 80s/early 90s, but then (after losing my figures in a move) I got out for quite a while before getting back in about 3 years ago at the impetus of a friend that I play RPGs with. Started up again with Warhammer (then in its 8th edition), but soon became interested in a wider variety of games, from the reprinted Knights & Magick by Heritage, to Warlord Games' Hail Caesar/Black Powder family, to the various "small games" of Osprey such as Lion Rampant, etc (also been reading a lot of Featherstone and that crowd). Recently my gaming group decided to try Warmaster, a game I've heard good things about, and that got me exploring the world outside of 35-38mm scale.

Being a Skaven player, I did some research and found that of whats available in the 10-15mm range, Pendraken's Ratmen far and away were my absolute favourites, and the range of the line is practically as extensive as GW's (making me think about trying out WFB with 10mm at some point just to make use of the awesome figures). Anyways, I just bit the bullet an put in an order for basically the entire line of Ratmen, League of Ratsburg, and the Desert Rats (to be supplemented once I see what a few things look like that my google-fu was unable to conjure up pictures of). Now just eagerly anticipating delivery and jumping in to painting 10mm for the first time.

Discovered this forum just last week and have been having a fun time browsing all the wonderful pictures, especially from the annual painting competitions.

What Ho, Tristram!

Please be careful about how you talk about the Blessed Featherstone. He is not to be mocked, and shown nothing but deference. As is the Beloved Grant and the Hallowed Bath.

I don't really understand the rest of what you're talking about, so "well done" and "jolly good show".

Anyway, welcome to the forum. I'm sure there will be someone along who will be able to talk ratmen, and there are always those who paint miniature works of art.

Hi Tristram,

welcome to the forum. As you may have already realised, interests here are very varied; advice, information and support are regularly dispensed; thread derailment and bouts of insanity are rife - enjoy! :)

As a long term Warmaster player I recommend at least giving it a go. It's not a set that grabs everyone but I loved it.

"...after losing my figures in a move."
That must have been some rapid move! Just ahead of the RCMP was it?  :)

Welcome to the forum and to "the Ten". Like fsn - I have mostly no idea about your gaming preferences but many here do, so you will be in strange but excellent company.

Hello Tristram

Welcome to our little corner of mayhem. If Warmaster doesn't float your boat then you can have a look at Shadow Storm which is Fantasy adaptation of Hail Caesar that you're familiar with:-

welcome. We recently moved and a box was lost .... panic!  check my 'box roster' to discover it was a 'breadbin and things' phew! Some of the little lead chaps had become jumbled though, with some minor chipping - still, not as bad as a loss.

Look forward to your posts.
