LoA Trumpeters

The above are modelled with a small banner on the trumpet. Does anyone have any information on the design? Was it a smaller version of the standard?

It was often based on the standard but it varied a lot. Do you have a specific army or even units in mind?

My first French cavalry regiments are Conde and Boubon. I have standard information for both.

OK with the French it seems that most trumpet banners are like the standard or unknown and so you are OK with using the standard in most cases. The main units which have different trumpet banners are the guard units. The Conde are like this but the Bourbon perhaps not. In 1750 this had "red with 3 silver fleurs-de-lys surmounted with a silver crown" so it might have had the same earlier.

As far as I can see, in the ECW trumpet banners more often reflected the coat of arms of their captain/colonel than their unit flag. At least that is the view of Laurence Spring in his book on Waller's army. Not sure if this is relevant?

Many of the French regiments drums had the coats of arms on so it is possible the trumpets followed suit
