The saucy bar wench was fishing for laconic hero  to invite her to the dance, with the promise of beer and pie. Instead he took both her tickets and went with his equally laconic dad who also likes pie and beer.

So looks like we'll be playing some DBA shortly then.....

Since Paul has been mentioning post-quake Kaikoura thought I would share our "effort" to help the towns local economy......Mrs Shy came downstairs last night and asked what our paypal account details were as she wanted to make a payment for some stuff she had bought online.....maybe she's going to order me some PM stuff for Christmas I thought (purhaps with a little too much optimism, though I have been a good boy this year...really ;) ).

But noooooo. As I might have mentioned previously my other half is quite a talented quilter and there is quite a well known quilting shop in Kaikoura who's business has suffered badly since access to the town is still very limited. Their solution has been to sell "quake packs" of material in an online sale. This news has rocketed through the local quilting community and so Mrs Shy just couldn't say no to just a few more bits of material......that sounds very familiar to most gamers doesn't it?  :o

Anyway its a novel and innovative way of helping out the folks in the hardest hit part of the quake zone a little bit so all good  8)

Well done Mrs Shy :)

There have been a number of innovative approaches from the businesses in Kaikoura. Another example is a gift shop that partnered with a couple of similar shops in Christchurch. They are now selling the Kiakoura shop's stock that couldn't be delivered due to the quake and are sharing the profit.

Another fundraiser is a T-shirt featuring a quote from a guy who turned up on the day of the quake at a makeshift tourist campsite with hot food for them. When interviewed by TV and asked why he was doing it, "It's not hard to be kind, eh?"

I had to work from home today while the Engineers rechecked our building after a 5.5 after shock yesterday afternoon

I took advantage of 'getting home early' to take some pictures

Arrrgh. Every time I look here for the first clatter of swords on shields, it's "...painted the horseshoe nails on the second Armenian feudal cavalry." You're teasing us, aren't you?
