Can anyone suggest a range of 15mm fantasy figures armed with firearms?

More information?

Right, what I need is something like Orcs or Goblins with a mix of traditional melee weapons and muskets/blunderbusses, other 'races' would be considered as nothing is written in stone as yet.

So far I've looked at Peter Pigs Dwarves, there are some nice firearm and crossbow figures but the melee weapon types look too Viking for what I want. I even looked at his Sci-fi range and I did consider using his 'Red Martians' but decided against them unless I can find some thing less 'human' looking.

As I say, I need these in 15mm and they mustn't break the bank, £3 for a pack of eight would be about the price I'd feel happy buying.

Thank-you.

Hi Steeleye
Can't suggest a specific range, but it would be worth checking out 15mm.co.uk

They carry a number of different ranges.

Cheers

Yes - look into the 15mm.co.uk scifi stuff. Lots of orcs with firearms.

For 15mm Orcs and Goblins try the following...

Magister Militum
Ral Partha Europe
15mm.co.uk
Demonworld

from the USA try Splintered Light

and of course Minibits have a few Orc/goblin types

The best thing about Orcs and goblins is you can mix n match ranges.

Have fun :)

Steeleye

Hmmm...thanks I'll take a look at those.

I forgot about Elve and Dark Elves.

Cheers.

Luddite

I'd suggest ditching the 15mm and going for 10mm, say Pendraken's excellent range of 10mm figures for all occasions.

I would certainly steer clear of the irregular 15mm fantasy, one of their poor quality ranges and they are closer to 20mm so do not fit with any other 15mm figs.

Do differences of scale matter at all with fantasy? Look at the range of sizes The Hobbit got away with in its orcs.

I suppose it is up the individual, but the Irregular Orcs are so large and crudely sculpted they don't really fit at all in my humble opinion. Certainly not in my little world :)

My idea was to use 15mm fantasy baddies to fight my 10mm 'goodies'.

I already use some 15mm Barbarian types from Copplestone castings to act as 'giants' for my Pendraken Fantasy Barbarians.

My 'Fantasy World' is mostly made up of armies which historically come from the period 1600-1700 (I gloss over the differences in firearms and artillery). So, I need some non-human foes for these guys to fight when they're not fighting each other! Which is why I need the fantasy types with muskets and blunderbusses.

I've always liked Pike and Shot armies, but its one of those periods where you don't get much difference in dress between say a French soldier and an English soldier of the same historical period. By using figures from such a wide historical period you get a nice collection of styles of dress which can be explained away by differences in fashion between nations...plus this is a fantasy world!

15mm?

BURN THE HERETIC!!

:D

Steeleye

I think I've solved my problem!

Pendraken's very own Ratmen.

They have pole arms and blunderbusses and are 'large'; other things should be capable of being cobbled together from other bits and pieces, like artillery. And the reason behind this revelation? I found some photos on another thread!

Anyway thanks for all the suggestions...apart from the 'Burn the heretic' one...which although I assume it was meant in jest, I found it a little offensive, having spent two months in a burns unit when I was nineteen.

FierceKitty

I think it might be as well to accept that the world isn't going to change its history, humour, and idiom to accommodate every unpleasant memory, and that offence lives in the intention more than in the overlaps of experience.
To put it differently, how many old soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder would find our very hobby objectionable?

Steeleye

Speaking as an 'old soldier' I quite agree, as I say I found the comment a 'little' objectionable. I'm not going to fly into a rage about it or sink into a deep depression! I just think people should be just a little more careful about what they say on the internet.

The thing is, had someone made that comment to my face it would probably have provoked a humorous come-back from me and I would have thought no more about it. But its there on the internet FOREVER! to be looked at every time myself or someone else reads this thread.

Think before you type...and I'm not suggesting self censorship, just a little thought.

jchaos79

those Miniatures are really cool!

Leman

It sounds to me like Pendraken's League of Ratsburg figures might fit the bill, especially as they are on the larger side. To be a little heretical as well, Kallistra also do a range of rat fantasy figures in the slightly larger 12mm size.
