* the optional rule allowing housecarls to be mounted   :o

Thanks all. There are design notes in the game and they include the question of mounted forces.
There is one source that suggests mounted troops hence the optional rule, but the option
Limits them to converting just 4 units out of the twenty available housecarl units and their cavalry
Function is  much limited (compared to say Norman cavalry).@
