We had a go at Montebello 1859 using Bloody Big Battles - frustrating for both sides but fun

Ghu, that spuds frustrating - if there's anything the French should manage in that scenario it's lightning assaults across the board :D

Did you keep your 40mm wide bases and just measure in 3" increments as per the rules, use 120mm instead of 3" or do anything tricky with each base counting as two etc?

Nathan - get rid of your iphone - the predictive text is pants  ;)

We used BBB straight out of the box - the 40x30mm bases work fine - life's too long to start fiddling round with a set of rules that work

Bonza, if it works so well out the box our FoW sized bases should be good to go. I say our, I mean my mate Jases who took the plunge into Crimea figures and adopted them, I'm just tagging along afterwards with some Italians!

I've also got some Irregular 2mm on 20mm bases but I think I'll reduce scale to 60mm = 3" so I can fit a four foot board into three feet and get a pre-made one into the car for rapid play of a club night.

Cheers Alan :) And yes, this things predictive text is rubbish - it's been especially bad since I recently updated the OS and it now freezes for ages whilst typing and fills my screen with gibberish. That's my job, damnit!

Montebello is a good game, which I played down the club a couple of years back (BP and using Weigle's info). Should be playing it to BBB using 28mm ?!!! (my sentiments entirely, but this opponent loves his 28mm armies) sometime soon.

Lovely looking game, even if I was totally confused until I realised it was Montebello 59 years later than I normally think of it  :D

Did explain the railroad though  :o

I didn't even realise there was a Napoleonic battle of Montebello. Never been that drawn to the Napoleonic period.

The Confusion is understandable, minor Italian allies with Napoleonic French on one side versus stolid confused Austrians in line on the other :D
