Excellent stuff. I am to be initiated into the mysteries of the RJW at the end of March using 15mm figures and FOB2.

Very nice to see some more of this conflict being gamed. At some point I'm going to try using the rules for some solo games, with scenarios by Featherstone, Asquith et al.

Yes, for some obscure reason the RJW has been an infrequent interest of mine. I say infrequent because the interest hasn't really been there for some time (on the back-boiler as they say). Back in the day I wrote some booklets for the war, one on the armies with Orbats, uniforms, weapons etc and a number of actual battle books. It's one of those 'one day' periods.

Like the terrain and little chaps but especially the crop fields.

Only in tabletop wargaming does a sentence like this make perfect sense.
Enjoyed the report, photos and the carpet tiles you selected. Still waiting for my copy of BBB to arrive.
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

Good report.

I was expecting the Japanese to roll up the line - not quite sure what the Russians did to hold them off.

I wouldn't bother rebasing from 40x30 to 25x25mm - I'd just use the bigger bases, either with distances as is, or expand them slightly.

There were enough troops in 1st Army to roll up the line but after seeing off the Cossack brigade they got held up down by the Sailors and the brigade that sat in the kaoliang. Also the commander was concentrating on taking the middle village so probably took his eye off the ball. Really it needs a 3rd player on the Japanese side

Thoroughly enjoying your RJW AARs. I fear I may have to invest in two new armies.  :)
