Swashbuckler. Play by Mail (or eMail) RPG game.

No armies. Though my Yorkshire merchant is trying to escape from a trio of bruisers who want to throw him in the River Ouse.

First turn, so I required a little help writing out the turn orders from other players.

Yes, first time I've used the rules set.

In this instance, it's myself against the GM. But as I'm playing as part of a larger game there could be as many as 10 or more.

2) What armies were confronted? - 1815 Anglo-Allied vs French
3) Did you feel comfortable with the ruleset? - after an hour, yes.
4) and... was the first time do you use the ruleset? - yes.
5) How many players were in the game? - three. Two Brits, one French
Squeaked a win, we only needed one unit each to break by the end, really enjoyed it. Couple of classic moments, with our first unit blown to pieces by massed French artillery. Twice French cavalry charged unprepared British foot units and lost. British heavy cavalry deciding the only decent thing to do was to take French artillery battery.
Great game, next game already booked!

3. Getting there......

The British got their revenge today in a tough scenario where they had to sweep their opponents from the field whom were lodged firmly behind breastworks. The British Line drew the attention of Breastworks defenders soaking up a tremendous weight of fire whilst their Indian Allies casually swept through the ranks of two Militia Line units and a Militia Skirmish unit.

The British got VERY lucky with morale rolls. Several times the line were forced to withdraw only once losing any morale points in doing so. The Rebels fared less well - their morale rolls were always high resulting in a rapid decline in morale loss.

An excellent, if somewhat slow game as I flicked through the rules to look things up.

I think the best game so far as it was full of action and challenges. Once my thoughts are collected, an AAR to follow...

Numidians and Romans again, Iacta Alea Est, 2 players. Close one, though the Romans won this time, despite a lot of morale tests. I'm starting to think that successive morale tests should become harder to pass; sometimes the decision can seem a bit arbitrary.

A draw going right down to the wire. I forgot about exhausted units and their impact on the lowering of army morale (although this had no impact on the outcome as both armies broke at the same point)

It gives a reasonable game and reaction is much more playable than in impetus. The rules give a good feel for the very different types of cavalry in the period. Even a unit of Croatian Light Cavalry had its moment of glory charging a unit of Latta Ryttare in the rear!

Looking forward to giving this a proper play through with a real opponent as that's where the proof of the pudding lies.

Looking forward to it. I've gone through my Prussians - massed Landwehr it is - and just need to cut some temporary bases. Also been looking at other armies - got a thing about Eylau, gotta love a bit of snow - and the Peninsula - downloaded the first couple of Sharpes from On Demand.
