Do you NEED to paint

I tend to look on painting as a chore, however, I can still get lost in the moment when I'm painting something.

I like painting and look on it as an integral part of the hobby, I tend to paint for about 20 minutes every morning after coming back from walking the dog and having a shower and before going to work, this is my production line and units are finished surprisingly quickly, especially 10mm ones.

However when things get heavy and stressy, sitting down for a couple of hours really helps me relax, possibly because it forces me to think about simple things at a slow pace.

I am fortunate to have my own den with a permanent painting table and loads of storage and shelves.

What's "permanent painting"?

I enjoy painting but I have just started painting some 10mm and realised that my maginfying lamp was probably the best hobby tool my wife has ever bought me  :-bd :-bd

I have mainly painted 28mm and 15mm in the past but for 2016 I have vowed to get my 10mm French Napoleonic painted, then I will be buying some of the lovely British/Allied figures from Pendraken to fight against. :) :) :)

I used to love painting, i would paint every evening untill late at night.

Lately it has just become a chore actually. I feel that i don't enjoy it anymore. Luckily i have enough painted up for solo games untill the pleasure comes back!

I'm with you.  Maybe things will change once I've got rid of the two projects I'm currently mired to the axles with!

Can't say that I need to paint. I just end up doing it. But I can go for long stretches of time where I don't pick up a brush at all.

I've hit a brick wall with my IJA at the minute. Hoping to box them off in January so I can get stuck into those lovely High Elves those nice chaps at Pendraken sent me.

Is it just me or does anybody else get "up tight" if they do not paint fora week or so?  :-\

I try and paint every day even if I have to be somewhere else the same day.

The only days I don't paint is if I have to be somewhere first thing and don't get home until late. I usually paint a bit more in the days before this is due to happen and also for a few days afterwards. Being an old codger and also retired means I can do this a lot.

Even on days when I can't really be bothered painting I try and do some basing, sprue clipping, figure filing or just tidying up.

Not retired (tho' I should be - 70 in February) I paint every day.  Get up at 4:00, check the forum, paint until 5:00, read the paper, cup of coffee, get ready and go to work at 6:00 or so.  Weekends paint at 6:00 until the wife gets up.

I paint units of both sides (FPW is my current fav), alternating and get a unit done each week.

Well done that man =D> =D> =D>

I thought I was doing well getting the odd half hour in before I head off to work at 7 :-[ ;D

Kipt, I salute you! I wouldn't be able to keep your routine going for a week if I tried it.  :)

Get up at 4am? Most nights I'd have had an hour or two's sleep by that time!! Last night I hadn't managed to get to sleep until an hour later. Personally, I don't see there's anything between 6am and 6pm worth being awake for. :)

You sound like my family.

Got used to it in the army and then in construction.  Needed to be the first on the job so when the workers reported in management was there.
