Bought in 1985!!!!   STILL UNPAINTED.

To give you something to think about, i was born in 1985.Turned 30 in july. And i painted between 800 and 900 models this year alone. Most of them 10 mm but still...

Thanks for all your comments I've been a bit stressed recently and probably feeling a little down if I'm honest.

So it appears I'm not mad its a wargamers normal state to have numerous projects on the go at once.

So I should maybe pick two as my main interests and have all the others as nice distractions.

Sounds a good plan Andy

I split projects into a number of batches, with a manageable number of figures in each batch. I usually am doing both sides so alternate batches. I also try and ensure that each pair of batches is roughly balanced game-wise. This lets me build the two forces slowly over time but let's me get the news toys on the table every second batch

The batches also provide a logical break point to swap projects.

I have also found the painting diaries I have on here very motivating and the positive feedback very rewarding

Most of my gaming is solo so I am always collecting both sides for any conflict I take interest in, even if it's a new thing at the club I invariably end up collecting both sides so I can play at home (with myself, but that's a whole different post/forum....) 

Nothing wrong with playing with yourself on a regular basis Nosher......

Like Nosher, nearly all my wargaming is solo so I also collect both armies. If something takes my fancy I will go absolutely mental and turn out as many chaps as I can before something else comes along to pique my interest. Fortunately, I now have the time to go back to a project after a while and carry on where I left off.

Currently on my table are 2 6mm Command Bases for my WW II Germans, 30 6mm H&R Greek peltasts (Alexandrian Macedonian -my latest 'pique'), 12 10mm Mongol LC and 30 Polish Medieval city levy- both units from Pendraken that have been there since the beginning of the year. I also have any number of 'projects' that are in boxes hidden away because I try to keep my painting area as clear as I can so I don't get disheartened at the amount of lead I have to paint for a project...even in 6mm!

WSS (5ish years) Only 5 more inf and 3 cav to go but I get distracted easily!!

Mid WWII russians were done...then I got some more T34s cheap...

Managed to get 1 game in 2 years, that's my fault as I have a lot of other things going on!!

First its not 'to many' it's 'TOO many'!

I'm amazed at how many different scales people game in at the same time. At most I've gamed in two or three scales at the same time 28mm, 1/300 and 1/3000(ships) I don't really count the space fleets I've had coz I never specified what scale they were.

Nowadays all my figures are 10mm, this is mainly due to space considerations (I know I could do 1/300 but I find them fiddly and lacking in 'character') also I've changed my method of gaming. Nowadays my games have more in common with board games but I use counters with figures on them instead of counters with printing on them.

At the moment I'm working on two (not 'to' or 'too') projects; some barbarians for my 'Battlefields' system and I'm rebasing, reorganising some older figures  for a 'Battlefields' spinoff system to cover battles from sci-fi films.

My 'lead mountain' is more of a lead molehill at the moment...if I buckled down and got some work done I'd have the last 40 barbarians and two mammoths finished in a day or two!

Probably not the first to notice, but obviously the first to feel a comment was needed.

Just starting another new project today. I picked up a couple of rather nice die-cast WWI aircraft models from a local store. They look slightly bigger than 1/144, so I need to do a bit of digging to find their scale just for my own satisfaction.

They look ideal for me to do a one-on-one dogfight on my Kallistra hex terrain.

The distraction for me will be simply to ink up the planes to 'mucky' them and do a suitable base and then some research to produce a fun one page set of rules. All good fun and possibly the worlds cheapest new project / distraction.

This year I have completed the following (some have been on the go for a few years)

50   x 28mm WW2 Russian Infantry

100 x 15mm WW2 U.S. Paratroopers

A small Afrika Korps detachment (15 vehicles and approx 50 troops) in 15mm for Rapid Fire

But what I have left (before buying more at Battleground tomorrow):

150 + 10mm French Napoleonic

60 x 28mm Romans

4 x 15mm Vehicles

The civilian clothed Dads Army figures from Warlord in 28mm.


So many TOYS and not enough hours in the day

Well, to actually get somewhere, I think you have to focus on one project.

A second becomes a manageable distraction that undermines the first project and beyond that I think it just becomes a mess, to the point that I can just stall and go into total inactivity with nothing getting done as I get pulled into too many directions.

He's right you know, hence my rod of iron painting schedule. This has been designed to complete projects so that there are always battles to be fought down the club, whilst painting is progressing.

The people I've played against have usually, like me, collected both sides so if I don't have an army for it, they do!

Ok thank you all for your input its been much appreciated. At least nearly everyone on here's in the same boat.

Anyway I've decided to concentrate on my two favourite periods which are ACW and WWII as most of you know turbil miniatures are painting up my ACW armies. Which leaves me to wash highlight and base them. Hopefully this will be completed by the end of January.

So this leaves me my WWII well I've been all over the place with this id already decided to get rid of my British. So I think I'm going to concentrate on early Russian front, stalingrad.
