Seeking some train track advice

I have a couple of 3ft pieces of PECO Streamline flexible track for use on the wargames table. My original plan was to cut it up in to approximately 200mm pieces and base them on plywood. Easy to transport and can put multiple pieces together to cross a 3ft table. Downside is curves are not an option, unless I create curved base pieces too.

Alternative is to leave it unbased and just plonk it down on the table as is. Much more flexible, but harder to fix in to position.

So, has anyone had similar thoughts? What did you end up deciding?

How much do you love your table?
Track pins will work to tack for an evening game, but will ruin your walnut veneer Queen Anne tabletop.

1. Cut 10 small squares of plastic card  about 20mm square - paint the top side to bled with terrain - or just grey undercoat

2.  secure painted side up at intervals along the bottom of the track with superglue

3.  roll small balls of Blu tack - plot your track plan with  blobs of Blu tac, secure the  cards & attached track  to the table.

4. get the troops on the table, light the pipes, roll the dice.

5. win or lose,  clear the table, roll up the blu tack, and lift your flexible track.

For my 6mm railway track I bought a piece of wooden beading with a flat top and rounded sides from one of the local DIY stores (Wickes) and glued the track to that in 12" lengths. This means that my railway is on nice even-edges embankments.

I got my mum to take a long ribbon and stitch on parallel silvery lines for the tracks. Cross-ties tend to end up the same colour as the little stones underneath them anyway.

You are very welcome - when I was new to 10mm gaming there were a few kind gentlemen on this forum who gave me a heads up on good tips, gear and where to source best value playable props and kit.   Anyone can troll or insult - we Pendraken oldtimers  just want others to enjoy wargames and share the knowledge.
