Anyone got a pic of a Pendraken Whippet or a Char 2C for that matter with some 10mm infantry for scale.

Or perhaps even measurements, metric please, width, length, height, that sort of thing.

Some pics of the Pendraken Whippet, sadly the one with the Whippet and FT have them almost out of shot but it gives an idea of the size difference.

I reckon adding a short funnel where the rectangle (top front) is and replace the MG bobbles with large muskets or small cannon and you have a workable steam tank.

I can also see an armoured car with its front wheels and mudguards removed, replaceg with a single (Reliant Robin) wheel, shaped armour plates round the side and back and an Empire gadgie waving from the turret.

Some very cool ideas.

The Empire steam tank is actually wheeled not tracked. But don't let that stop the imagination. The holt tractor might work well, especially as it already has a funnel.

The wippet model would be a great base, but might be a bit big for a 20x40mm WM base. I'll dig one of mine out in a bit.

I'm totally wrong about the size of the Whippet, its actually fairly small compared with the GW model. But I do think the Holt tractor might make a very good base, especially with its small front wheel.



The canvas cover is a separate piece so can easily be left off. As is the large front radiator and the crewman.

That Char 2C is impressive!  Does a 10mm model of it exist?  Couldn't find it on the Pendraken Site.

Yes, it's right there in WW2 French http://www.pendraken.co.uk/FRE11-p6281/



There's also a T35 available from another supplier, and the Vickers Independent, Type 91 Heavy Tank and Neubaufahrzeug available from Fairy Kikaku in resin.

And we have been threatened with a Ratte and Maus as well



We're actually pretty well off for large tanks in 10mm/12mm.

I wouldn't worry about the size, your model absolutely captures the look and feel of the steam tank.

Also, my bases at the moment are just warhammer 20x20mm bases held together with green stuff.  I have found some other bases online, like the litko and minibits ones, but I was wondering the thickness of genuine warmaster bases, so i can try to at least come close.

Bases first, the Minibits ones aren't too far off the plastic WM ones. I use both together quite happily.

The three different Warmaster skirmisher models I have are a mix of sword and pistol, sword and buckler and (iirc) one with two-handed sword and one with two longswords. No exactly equivalent figures in the Pendraken ranges, that I'm aware of, but it's more important that they are identifiable than that they exactly mimic the GW ones IMHO. I'd use half-a-dozen arquebusiers in a skirmish line per stand, if it were me.

Closest real world units are probably the sword & buckler men used by the Spanish in the first quarter of the 1500s

Skirmishers: The GW figures have a mix of melee weapons, bucklers and pistols.



In WM terms they are melee troops, not shooting troops. And they add more combat attacks to units of halberdiers when attached to them. I'd definitely go for fairly loose order basing, with not too many figures on a base. Sword and Buckler men would work, as might the Landschkent two handed swordsmen. I don't think there are any pistol armed infantry in the pendraken catalogue.

Bases
Yep Minibits MDF ones are great, a touch thicker than plastic bases, but a lot thinner than the 28mm slotta bases you are currently using.
