Gentlemen of the Forum, (yes, Westmarcher, you can be included too.)

I am staring at some lovely Pendraken British infantry figures, and gloomily contemplating my dozen or so red paints. None of them seem to match my "British Scarlet" from the Humbrol Authenticolour range.

My question, then, Gentlemen of the Forum, is which paint do you use for that slightly-yellower-than-bright-red colour for the famed red coats?

PS. Please don't say "pixie blood red" with a 10.3% addition of "orc pus yellow". I'm looking for a single pot.

I use technodremel red.

Mind you, it dries up very dark!

FierceKitty

Duffy says it weathered to a red-brown very rapidly anyway. Which suggests individual variations, n'est ce pas?

Officers and sergeants had better quality uniforms that stayed scarlet longer, other ranks seem to have been reduced to red-brown uniforms fairly quickly, as Duffy via FK, says.

I used Vallejo Model colour 909 Vermillion or 947 Red dry brushed with 817 Scarlet as highlights for my AWI red coats

Probably a bit redder than historically accurate but they look good on the table ;)

Hoping this ain't a very, very long lead up to next April 1, here are my thoughts. I think I read somewhere that the officers (who, as mentioned above, usually had better quality dye and cloth) tended to have scarlet coats but the rank & file uniform colours were more "brick red" (whatever that is exactly). So, bearing in mind what FK said also, some with pixie blood red / orc pus yellow and others with technodremel red (liked it, Peter. ;D) might just do the trick.

1st April! Nah!  Although ...

I always see there are a distinct yellow-orange tint to jackets of the period. I want my chaps to be parade-ground fresh, not shabby and worn. I want the same for my British Napoleonic infantry. However, I cam never match the same mix twice, and and constantly disappointed that paints dry to a different colour than is shown. Just wanted to consult the keen minds, discernment and long experience of the forum. It's good that you joined in too, Westie.

Also, I did not, repeat not Google technodremel red.

Now that we have intermawebs presence, we might as well start a forum and fill it with useless banter and...

Oh, we already did that.
