May i ask wich colours you used for the union uniforms?

Base coat black mixed with brown ink (covers better)

then a coat of Italeri Acrylic Paint Flat Medium Blue

then for the coat/jacket/kepi/forage cap a mix of 2/3rd or 1/2 Flat Medium Blue with Italieri Acrylic Paints Flat Azure Blue.

and for the pants a coat of Flat Azure Blue.

Sometimes I might just leave the Flat Medium Blue coat for the upper parts, and just put the Flat Azure Blue for the pants.

Just back from a holiday in Virginia and managed to squeeze in a quick unscheduled visit to the Gaines Mill battlefield (didn't realise Cold Harbor was so close either). Unfortunately, I had read about the battle too many years ago to recall the various actions / sequence of events, etc., to get the optimum enjoyment out of the experience - and lack of time was also a limiting factor (hope to remedy that soon). However, I can say that the modern day battle site is heavily wooded and, in my mind, you appear to have captured this aspect quite well. If it is of any interest for your project, one of the information plaques mentioned that this was the first (and probably the only) occasion on which both sides employed Observation Balloons at the same time ... if so tempted, Irregular Miniatures do ACW Balloons in 6mm ....
