Warmaster/Warband Advice

I'd be tempted by Warriors of Chaos for the Barbarians - Bison Riders using Chaos Knights (they're very tough!), the meatiest warriors as Chaos Warriors on foot (c'mon, would a Chaos Warrior really beat Conan?!), and lighter or less dense warriors are Marauders. If I still had the army list/rules PDF I my phone I'd have a better look but that might do off the top of my head...

nice to see another "well-kent face" on here!

I'd go with the idea of using the barbarians as proxy orcs in Warmaster.

Warriors as Orcs, Archers as Goblins, Bison Riders as Boar Riders, Catapults as Rock Lobbers, Giants (from the monster section of the Warband selection) as, well ... Giants, Berzerkers as Black Orcs, there are Ogres and Trolls in the old fantasy section or you might want to proxy them with some of the new elementals or such. Heroes and Shamans cover the personalities.

You'd be missing equivalents for Wolf Riders, Wolf Chariots and the Wyvern and Chariot mounts for characters. I'd suggest Mammoths for Wyverns but but flying mammoths might be a bit much even in fantasy games

Sounds good to me.  If you can dream it, do it.

OK some mammoths then and maybe some Amazons on Camels for Wolf Riders and then maybe some Camel Chariots and then ... ... ...

So...'Canada Jim' it is then?  

On the 'proxy' note, I see it less as proxying figures and more as being creative.  

I'd hate to see Warband go all Wames Gorkshop and prescriptive about what figures can be used for what army or unit.

One of the joys for me, is the 10x5cm base allows you to let your imagination run wild with some truly weird fantasy dioramas (and Pendraken have some great options, particularly in the 'dungeon' ranges); and I hope the sense of freedom means we'll see some marvellous and eclectic armies...

Still planning to do my goblins as 'fire goblins'...should be some off the wall units representations in that.  

Not sure with my Barbarians yet buy I may go 'African' with them.

I remember fondly armies like Happy Ent's "Green Kislevites" - orc figures but the Kislevite army list.

GW prescriptions didn't run very far in any of the groups I played with!
