Hi chaps,

A few pics of an ECW Artillery Battery as an excuse to include
my attempt at the Stokesay Castle Gatehouse....

The Gatehouse :

The bricks were a bit of fun...   I put together the card building and painted this up first.
Then added the rough chimney from foamcard and covered this in in filler.   When the filler
started to dry, I carved the brick shapes (sounds difficult but doesn't actually take too long).
Then painted the whole chimney with the drab yellow mortar colour before heavily dry
brushing with dark red.   Just a case then of adding a few different brick colours here and
there.   Not sure if I would want to repeat this for an entire building...

Cheers,

Phil

Very nice . Really like the the artillery
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Brilliant, now you need the church to hide the Royalists in and shell with the artillery!  8)

Nicely done., I would never have guessed that it started life as a card building. The town is a nice multi-use feature.

Great stuff  8) (I live a couple of miles from Stokesay)

Thanks chaps.   Much appreciated.

Matt - A nice part of the world & inspiration on the doorstep.   Not
too far from me (Wolves) but still a decent journey.

Leman - A very nice shot.   I must admit that I will probably stick to
the black and white 'tudor' look rather than attempt stone effect.
Very useful to see the House from this angle though.   When I
visited, I didn't get a chance to take a pic from there.

Norm - The diy card town has proved to be very flexible (usually
employed in our Warmaster games).   I built a base for the buildings
(which you can see in some of the pics) to give the village a defined
area - useful in some rule sets.

Thanks again,

Phil
