All,

In case you thought I've forgotten about my dogfighting project, here's proof it's still in motion (yes, KG Klink has once again taken center stage though).  I recently received an order from Picoarmor and have been steadfastly working on them, though there is still work to do.

Here's the whole mess.  I've gotten 32 finished, while 32 more have been primed and had magnets affixed, and six more have only been primed (I need to buy more magnets).  In the waiting line above are four Israeli Mirage IIIs, four USMC AV-8 Harriers, four F-4 Phantoms (not sure what to do with them; looking at a Cold War gray, maybe USN gray, not sure), six more F-15s, four more MiG-29s, four MiG-23s, and four Su-27s.

On a side note, upstairs I have a boatload of USAF (F-4s, F-105s, A-1 Skyraiders), USN (F-4s, F-8s, A-4s, A-6s, A-7s, RA-5s, E-1Bs, SH-3s), and PAVN (MiG-17s, MiG-19s, MiG-21s) aircraft for Vietnam in various states of undress, F-86s and MiG-15s for MiG Alley primed, a bunch of USN and IJA/IJN for Pacific WWII, some Flying Tigers and early war bombers for China WWII, and some more Battle of Britain that need to be finished.

A hint at what's coming ;)

Well, I've got a bunch more stuff to get written up, stay tuned.

I know, but I wanted camo! ;)

Don't think that that will keep me from calling them Sea Harriers ;)

Dear bigjackmac.

Firstly, I hope that your cognomen is due to you having an outsize lifting mechanism that you use for outsize burgers.

Secondly, I hate you. I'm just getting into some nice post war sandy tanks, and you throw up this ... distraction. I've never done aerial warfare satisfactorily and I look at what you're doing and I think ... "well, there's pretty. Bet I can do that."

Thirdly, please take my jealously and mock hate as admiration.

My cognomen, as you put it, is for reasons I can't discuss in public.  You know how they call the 6' 5", 300 pound guy "Tiny"?  ;D ;D ;D

In any case, they're easy and cheap, have a go.

Dammit I may have to now.

The first war I took a contemporary and semi-intelligent interest in was the 1973 Arab-Israeili. Phantoms, Skyhawks, Mig21s.

What's not to love?

"Dammit I may have to now."
Do it.  It's $5 for 8 fighters, and you can buy them (at least from Picoarmor, I forget who stocks in UK) as singles, 3s, 4, and 5s too.  So it doesn't cost anything to hop in, then I use clear Legos for "flight stands," but the magnets can get a bit expensive if you keep ordering more planes like I do...

Thanks TP, hopefully some Falklands this weekend.  I'm looking at Harriers dueling with Mirages, who are trying to cover A-4s looking to get at a cargo ship ;)

Jack

The old Naval Review/Harpoon quarterly had a cracking Falklands/San Carlos scenario in - was intended for multiplayer con play with each person taking an Argie attack group (naval, one of the various airforce gruppo's), and putting their strikes together without reference to the others...

The CAP and exact position of the escorts was then rolled for as and when those strike groups straggled in...
