Check our Dan Mersey's Dragon Rampant. 

It's out soon I think and is the fantasy version of his excellent Lion Rampant rules.

To be honest, you could use Lion Rampant with what you have there.   

Song of Blades and Heroes is OK, but I felt it was a little 'sparse'.

Oo yes, Dragon/Lion Rampant would probably be a nice fit for the size from what I've seen - or any Dux Bell/Sage/Dux Brit extension to a later period...

"Song of..." is pretty generic, you need to put the flavour in - it's supposed to be able to replicate anything you want, so by it's nature it requires some decision making as regards to flavour before you start

Thanks guys! I have Lion Rampant and liked it, but it lacks some of the choices needed for fleshing out fantasy armies. Dragon Rampant i will keep a n eager eye out for. I think I will give Kings of War a run. The rules look simple, and Warhammeresque army lists are available. if that does not do it, I intend to get Hail Caesar and build lists (not a full fantasy version, but simply plausible lists) and tack on a simple magic system.

Yes it is free. I can combine my war-hammer forces to create bigger armies for KOW, but I will probably first try it with forces as is.
