During a lunch at my mother-in-law house, I "found" some photos of the grand father of my girlfriend.
(I translate any text I found at the back of the photos).

" Siena 11 november 36
I offer my parents with affection ...[unreadable]... this memory of my platoon.
Alvaro"

"Siena 28-5-937"

I talked with his daughter (the mother of my girlfriend) who told me he was made Prisoner in the desert, then went in England where he worked in a farm.
He met and created a link of friendship with an English farmer.
They continued to see each other till the death or this English farmer in late 80's.
The family of my girlfriend still has contacts with the daughter and the grand-daughter of this farmer.

Wow! Some great photos there.

It's so nice to see pictures of non UK or German troops for once.

How jaunty an angle can you make a hat before it gets silly?

It seems that the Italians were quite a welcome bunch, for prisoners, in much of the UK.
