Nosher

My copy arrived today.

Mightily impressed. Well laid out. No unneccesary fluff. Looks quite intuitive.

On first thoughts I'm thinking I will go with 80x40 bases so I can use my FOG Medievals as the base for DragonMen. As I look at other armies I will mount these on one single 80x40 base

One early question springs to mind....

1. What are people using to represent Magic User stands? I cant see too many obvious figures within some of the fantasy ranges?

I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Which armies are you building?  There's options in most of the ranges, so I'm sure I can recommend something.

Im looking specifically at Taureans, Eldritch, Undead and Hill Dwarves. I will also need them for Dragon Men.

So Mr T. Is that the dark secret out :-[

Okey dokey then:

Hill Dwarves - Easy, use the new figures!

Undead and Eldritch - You can use a mix of things from the Undead range here, so there's the Zombie wizards (code FU15), plus some Wraiths maybe (code FU14) and there's also a witch-y looking dead thing in the command pack (code FU5)

FU15 and FU5 figure: Round base, arms outstretched.  The FU5 figure is the one on the right hand side of the base.  There's also a Beggar magician at the front of that base that doesn't look too bad:

FU14:

Taurians - I'd use the Minotaur Shaman figure as the main option, plus maybe a quick conversion on either the Beestmen spear or bow, turning the weapon into a magic staff instead?

FM9 Shaman and Chieftain:

FBE1:

FBE2:

And finally, Dragon Men - There's the regular wizard figure in AC19, plus the Beggar wizard and the High Elf wizard.  There's also a figure in the Late Roman personalities pack.

Late Roman chap and High Elf wizard (right hand pair):

Taureans - FM9?

Eldritch/ Undead - FU13 with AC2 and/or FU15 with AC4?

Hill Dwarves - FD8?

There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data

Chieftain

It's worth having a roam around the Dungeon monsters and Accessories ranges for inspiration too.

The magic users base is a real opportunity to do some fun stuff with a cabal of spell casters, their guards, minions, familiars, summoned beasties, altars, spell book lecterns, magical spell effects etc.   ;)

Nosher,

If you haven't seen them already the are doing movement bases to suit old Warmaster stuff, so you can get a 100mm x 50mm as per the rules with an internal space for 4 off 40mm x 20mm bases.

Bodvoc

So...having played my first game of Warband with Goblins and Orcs taking on the Dragon Men, and really enjoyed it, I thought, what other Warband Armies can I do? A quick look though my assorted collection of figures and I found a load of painted barbarians (that will need re-basing from Warmaster bases to my current 6x3cm bases). Another quick rummage found a few Pendraken Amazons. A quick boob reduction and some green stuff modelled on to look like they are dressed in ragged clothes and I have some barbarian female shamans with a couple of spear armed guard.

Then I found some Fire Elementals which were quite quick and easy to paint, I added a thin black/burnt line around them and some 'smoke'.

Then from the various Barbarian bits and pieces I have collected over the years I added a chieftain.

Now I just need to do is paint some Bison Riders, do all the re-basing of the core infantry units and wait for Pendraken to release their Barbarian War mammoth and catapults!

Great looking collection.

War mammoth and catapults are already in the Fantasy accessories range! ;)

I might have to do Barbarian and Goblins as both of those are large collections already :D
