A quote from one of the other volunteer painters, Brian Smaller (well-known for his wargaming woolshed near Whanganui http://woolshedwargamer.com/2015/01/31/mustering-the-troops-nz-wwi-anzac-diorama/) in a post on another forum:

I for one cannot build a monument on my own – I have neither the skill nor resources to do so, but I can take part in something like this. This piece of model work will outlive us all. My grandkid's children will look at this diorama and know that it was made by ordinary Kiwis, just like the guys it is commemorating were – ordinary Kiwis.

It sums up my feelings rather well.

The strong lighting has unfortunately washed them out a bit in this picture

I have since finished the detailing and now just have the highlighting left to do

We are working to a painting guide and I have managed to get Vallejo equivalents for all but one of the paint colours

Unfortunately I have had to go with Citidal "Shades"^TM for the washes, costs about a sixth more for 12ml rather than 17ml and you use it straight from the pot rather than diluting it

Colours are Agrax Earthshade for the main wash and Riekland Fleshshade followed by Seraphime Sepia for the skin over Vallejo Rose Brown

The guy at the GW store knew what I was working on just from the colours on my shopping list 

Apparently he has ordered a triple restock of the colours on the painting guide

Thanks Paul; I like Citadel washes too.  Trying to convert to Vallejo but find them too heavy.

Finished my first batch



Apparently we are painting faster than the Perry's can ship them to us I was due to pick my next batch up on Wednesday but they are not yet in NZ 

The worry is we only have just over 42 days left to get them all painted 

Looks like it might be back to 10mm Turks for a few days

Even if visitors aren't allowed to take photo's (and I don't expect that will happen) I'm sure there'll be some 'official' shots for us all to enjoy !!

They are the 'pegs' that will hold the figures in the diorama.  We are under strict instructions not to remove them
