I've ben watching Sons of Liberty lately.
I know the wonderful minis from Clib.

But I'm a big noob.

-Is there any minis usable into the  Fench-indian wars range for the AWI ?
- What rules ? My main problem with Black powder is the price of the books, b ut it seems like a good rule set for noobs.

BP isn't the greatest set of rules (but I do like Hail Caesar) . They are very much of the toolkit approach - so if you don't know the period you are going to struggle to adapt them.

We played a bit of Muskets and Tomahawks (having loved Saga) but found it all a bit too random - you could win a game, without really knowing why, or even engaging the enemy!!

Sorry, not much help as to what to use.

Hello Barbarian

Could I suggest the Perfect Captains rules John Bull/Patriots http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/jbull.html and Campaign Rules Swamp Fox http://www.perfectcaptain.50megs.com/swampfox.html.

They are free to download and Perfect Captain is one of my first go-to points when I'm looking for rules. There is a French-Indian wars variant of Patriot on the Yahoo site https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/perfect_captain/files/Mohawk%20et%20Montcalm/

Alternatively there are quite a number of rules at the Free Wargame Wiki http://freewargamesrules.wikia.com/wiki/Category:18th_Century.

I'm a fan of Volley and Bayonet and use wing scale for AWI, they give a good fun game

I have pulled together some of Greg Novak's mods into a single document, pm if you would like a copy.

Thank you.
I'd like to base on 50 x 50, to create mini-diorama.
But I guess in these periods, column and lines makes a difference...

Should I go the traditional way of 40x20 ?

I must confess, it is unlikely I will play as my group of friends are more RPG or casual tabletop gamers oriented (Zombicide, Descent, Heroquest are the more miniature like games they know)

OK, Barbarian, I give up - what's a NOOB?  :-[
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

GordonY

In context, from a typical WoW dungeon run

"OMFG, tank you're fcking NOOB, pull more, Gogogogogogo.........."

cameronian

Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

GordonY

OMFG = Oh My Feckin God
tank = part of the holy trinity of Tank/Healer/Damage Dealers
fcking NOOB = common insult used in WoW to imply you havent a clue what youre doing
pull more = attack more monsters at once (i'm getting bored)
Gogogogogogo = common chant of the more impatient Damage Dealers (or loot whores as I like to describe them)

Prepubescent? All the people I game with who use that sort of language are over thirty .... a handful are at least twice that!
There are 100 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data
