I must confess to being a bit sad that the new 77th Brigade is to be a lot of computer geeks.

I wonder how Wingate would have felt?

Is this the face of the new Chindit?

Indeed, but the serious point is how do we feel about Chindits being cyber-geeks?

I think poor old Orde will be doing handsprings in his grave - but then again, he was at the forefront of military thinking.

Given that Wingate was happy to hold staff meetings in his tent while he was naked (whole new meaning to debriefing!) and is rumoured to have conducted a parade whilst naked I can't help feeling the "undress uniform" in the picture might be appropriate :-)

On the other hand, I am reminded of Wellington's "I don't know what they do to the enemy but, by god, they frighten me!" :)

It's generally accepted that Wingate was somewhat eccentric. He kept water buffalo with him as he would only drink their milk.

Not that eccentric when you consider most water would be polluted.

Somewhat eccentric? That's a like saying the Titanic was slightly unlucky!
