Anyone tried Irregular Wars?

Hi

I saw the ad for Irregular Wars http://www.wargamevault.com/product/140800/Irregular-Wars-Conflict-At-The-Worlds-End-v20 and I was wondering if anybody here had tried them in 10mm.

I've mainly used DBR and DBR condensed for Ren. South America and East/South-east Asia.

From a cursory look they seem sort of similar. Just wanted to know if anybody had any first hand knowledge.

As Steve says, I'm the author of those ones (though I make a point of never pushing any of my rules here).

The game is stand based, with each stand representing a company. Any scale is fine. Recommended base size is 30mm squares, but measurements are in generic 'units' based on base widths so it is easily adapted to different sizes.

48 army lists included which are mainly colonial and native armies from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Anything specific you'd like to know, just ask away.

Thanks for the info. Tried to look at the Vexillia site yesterday but it was down to change the hamster  .

I was mainly looking for info on the turn sequence and initiative.

It was a pleasure to go through your blog postings and see the well painted examples of my figures, I spotted Portuguese, Landsnechts, Tupi and Buccaneers  .

Are you 'the' Grumpy?! I love those figures. I also have some Indonesians in there too which I use as scouts for my Dutch.

I also have a Grumpy 6mm junk for naval games 

The short version of the turn sequence is:
Initiative
Both sides shoot
Both sides conduct actions (move, reload, rally etc)
Melee

The player with the initiative determines who goes first. It is not a strict i-go-you-go by any means.

Yes I am 'that' Grumpy. Always happy to see people using the figures, what can I say but 'buy more'  . You really need the the Chinese and Koreans to test out the Asian lists  .

The rules look interesting and I'll have to see if there's any money left after I take my family down south  .

Already thinking about a scenario Berber vs Portuguese in 1578 (Qaṣr al-Kabīr)

I did make a large junk but it mashed in the mould and I've never got around to repairing it.

I'd actually love a larger junk. I use your one with Peter Pig ships. I have removed the 6mm crew and replaced them with 1/450 chappies though...

Nice paint job on the ships, I assume these are being used with your Galleys & Galleons rules.

Will have a look at what happened to the large junk. Any holes in the 1/450 ship range?
