Oh yes, both Ma Subs and I were there watching it this afternoon. Saw it at the cinema in '63 in Hong Kong, again in Sennybridge Army Camp in '66, then again in Burnham on Crouch in 68. Had a break -unless it was on TV- until I bought the video, then the Diddly-dee and yet I still watch it nearly every time it's on the telly. Brilliant film and has as many great quotes as Waterloo.

Stanley Baker actually made 'Zulu' as an ANTI war film?

Strange but true, I'd say he failed dismally, also you might like to take a look at the wiki page for the film Zulu, the 'Historical' screw-up section is most informative.

Having said all that it really was a great film which I must have seen eight or nine times at the cinema, I had it on VHS and now on DVD...at one hundred yards volley fire present!

Best otuside thing about it was that Baxter really annoyed the SA gov. by paying all the extras the same, and not segregating them for catering. It also has Prince Mutawsei (sp) as an extra.

Mentioned to my wife that this was Zulu's 50th. When she replied, 'about as many times as it has been on the TV over the last fortnight," I knew in my heart that Zulu and I were destined not to meet that day. 

[I now know where I went wrong. Shouldn't have complained about the 100th showing of Your-a-sick Park, Independence Day, etc., etc.]
