Yes I think could work well. I do not have orks drift GW campaign

But we did some "historical battles" transform to fantasy like

Battle of Balaklawaaagh http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,7014.0.html   goblin light wolves attack to empire cannon battery

and

Orks drift, http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,6381.0.html  where some little forces of empire are trapped in a village while a large forces of orcs attack them to the death

they are quite fun to translocate history to fantasy (I have to say I would love to play full historical battles also)

or

Diadorks wars http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,8476.0.html  where a Orc warlord dies and the different clans of orcs under his command fight each other to retrieve the remains of the warlord in order to legitimize and became the leader of the waaagh

The stetic of those old GW rules and books is more "pendraken" stetic than nowdays GW.... you know what I mean... It is like a feeling.

I see Macdeath cover and makes me take the figures and start palying with 10mm. I see the new GW stuff cover and I have some uneasy feeling about fantasy.

No !.....That was before my time at the Evil Empire. 
I was turned into one of the characters in  a WFRP book.....Without my knowledge that had been done, though.
If memory serves.....The character's name was 'Guido Vermicelli'.....You don't forget things like that !!

I know what you mean. GW fantasy used to be fun now its all a bit dark like 40K

How a caricature got into Rogue Trader, I've no idea....Unless is was done by the same artist that did the ones in the WFRP book .

I can still remember taking the pics that were used by the artist (Martin McCenna ?) to produce that.
Still name them all too !
