If you have not watched the new 1864 series by the Danes, do so.

I just watched Episode 7 of 8, which has the Storming of Dybbel. It was glorious. It drained me emotionally. Excellent

Well just watched that - it makes Hollywood history look utter rubbish. The sounds of close quarters battle and the row of Danish bodies after the battle were especially effective.

Had a quick look and certainly looks very impressive. Before I invest an hour of Peter's painting time ;) is there any way to get English subtitles? My Danish is extremely limited

One of my Turkish friends has found it subbed online. Obviously not "officially". Otherwise you will have to wait for BBC 4 to air it, sometime next year.

Had negotiated with wife to see this and when I read the first line in the the post I thought I had missed it!
Only problem now is .... by the time next year comes around, will I remember its going to be on?  :-\
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Dipped into it and found the battle scenes very impressive. Lack of Danish makes following the plot almost impossible. Must watch out for it on UK TV.
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

I must say WOW!

That is so very well done, it puts Hollywood to shame. I watched little of the Patriot on Sky the other night (I know it my fault) and it does annoy me that British television will show such crap.

Whoever put together this production should receive all the highest accolades, but in a world dominated by American television and Hollywood it will almost certainly be assigned to the "enthusiast" bucket.

Sad that with a market as large as Europe and our long and rich history we could'nt have an entertainment industry to rival Hollywood.

That is really good work. I am not sure about pushing lead figures around because of it (The terror weapon won't sanction another new adventure) but I am definitely going to do a bit more research and reading about this. Very interesting.

I mean, you would need figures in small scale, and who would even do a range like that?

Its funny, but the director is getting grief by certain quarters in Denmark for how he deals with the role the Deanish Eider Dane nationalists had in the outbreak and conduct in the war (they do not like that he zeroes so much on them).

No one is ever happy!
