Wasn't "Valley Forge" the name of one of the ships in Starship Trooper? (The book, not the films.)

"Valley Forge is the name of a succession of Starships .

The first Valley Forge was a ship present during the Invasion of Klendathu. It was destroyed during a collision with the Ypres in orbit over Klendathu whilst half its Mobile Infantry Troopers of Willie's Wildcats were still in its launch tubes.

After Operation Royalty, another ship was built that bore the name Valley Forge. This Starship was commissioned and stationed at Sanctuary along with the new Ypres after the Operation Bughouse. Juan Rico called it 'a large ship'." - starshiptroopers.wikia.com

Starship Troopers 'continued' the US tradition of naming carriers after major battles expanding it to include non-US battles to give it a more international feel, e.g. Ypres.

It also named the smaller vessels after 'heroic' individuals following US practise for Destroyers, e.g. Rodger Young and Magsaysay (Philippines hero and former president).

Neither is surprising given Heinlein's naval background.

A belated welcome from me too, Ali. (Not another master-painter to make my efforts look scruffy... mutter, mutter....)  ;)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.
