I think Osprey had an excellent opportunity to generate a series of linked period rules but have missed the boat with their 'hotch-potch' of rules. Too many inconsistencies across all of them; some really good, some really poor. Shame really.

Has anyone compared Dux Bellorum to Saga? Can factions for both rules be generated?

One of my chums is working on a set of rules for Osprey (for release next year) and from what I can gather, Osprey welcome anyone to submit their ideas, then they decide whether to proceed with them or not. So as with their staple range of books, you can get a real mixed bag in terms of qulaity of product. But then that is true of other companies; ie I love Black Powder but Bolt Action? What were they thinking about!?

As for SAGA and Dux Bellorum, I can't see why you cannot come up with two lists that compliment each other and allow you to move from SAGA onto DB.

Dux Bellorum ... is very period specific ...

Not sure about that DP old chap.
There's an excellent 'ancients' conversion out their on the web and it works well for that.
Also, some mad fool converted it for AVBCW (1938 British sillyness) and it works suprisingly well in that genre too.   ;)

Perhaps that says something about the strength of the rules writing involved in that system. Ought to take a look at his medieval set.

I've played Dux B and enjoyed it enough to buy the rules (although I haven't play it again since I got them!).

Just bought Lion Rampant and really enjoyed the 3 games we have had so far trying the rules out.

Yesteday arrived in the majesty's name. I had read half book and it is quite ease. I am going to make aa couple of gangs with 10mm that could be very fun.

Defenitevely Osprays wargames are what I was searching, thin, quick, fresh, not complicated, easy, full of flavour, cheap, wargames. Very recomendable, I think I am goning to collect them besaide I play a couple or games or not.

thank you for your opinion guys

Are Ospray compatible with Osprey?

Leman

No, totally different company who just specialise in rules. I believe a court case is pending.
