I am currently waiting for the thud of a brigade of Centurions to land on the mat.  :) (Probably more likly a letter sying they couldnt be delivered and can I pick them up   :()

I have researched the organisations and I am happy I have that sorted.
I had a vague idea of how the markings with chevrons worked but I found this excelent artical which clears up all the grey areas:

Now has anyone come across Israeli 10mm decals? It would be easier than me painting them.

Next will be a battalion of M113's + infantry and then a generic arab tank brigade of 3 T55 battalions and a battlion of mechanied infantry,

I have yet to decide how to beef up the arabic force as this as it stands will be outmatched in a straight fight. It my be I will get a second brigade. The other thing I need to decide on is the APC for the arabic brigade. Dave thinks BTR50 as we don't have the choice of BMP1 yet but I quite like the idea of BTR152.  :-\,

Cheers, Rob  :)

I like anyone who has Centurions!  :)

BTR152 would be fine. How about some PT76s? Katyushas?

Both the BTR50 and the BTR152 were in widespread use in the war - certainly in the Egyptian army.

The M113 were not common in 73, most APC's were M5 1/2 tracks. Mainly bought from us.

Ian is correct.  Israeli military doctrine changed after 1973 to include APCs such as the M113.  It was the tank only formations favoured by Tal that caught a cold from Sagger teams in Sinai when rushed forward without mobile infantry support.

Ian is correct.

I ALWAYS AM, how many times do you lot need telling.  ;)

On a serious note the 113's mostly arrived from US stocks in Europe and needed repainting, whilst crews needed training.

I only need 28 posts for promotion.

Ah, that explains a lot of things.  ;)

I'm easily persuaded, i'll make the initial Israeli force an all armoured force and move on to a supporting mechanised brigade after the generic arabs are in place.

So I'll get a few more tanks to make the tank brigade a 3 battalion force.

Rob every thing was way outside TOE, some even over strength.
