I find the best test for usable figures is "gaming distance" - that's where I'll normally see them at, so looking best at about an arms length is about right IMO :D

Unless it's "display quality" figures you're after where they should be admired at a six inch distance and create exclamations of "BUT THAT'S BETTER THAN MY 28's! WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" :D

My stuff is definitely best viewed at arm's length. Excuse the shaky handwriting.

It was especially the 'couples of arm lenghts' that made me laugh :D
I was wondering how far off one would be standing then...
Personally I normally go for the 'total look' (so basing, grouping, numbers etc.) for my units but in this case I really paint them almost individually.
The other Union troops are going pretty well now so pictures by the end of the week I guess... Hopefully they can stand up to 'closer examination' (although I understand that 'closer' is a retative term... ;) )

I dread to think where the other arm comes from, it sounds a very harsh way to treat an opponenet :D "I need a bit more distance, give me your arm... *wrench, rip, tear*" :D

Yeah, basing really helps IMO as well - lifts figures nicely and gives a really good look!

But yes, that's a cracking shot Bt - looks ace.

Beautifull picture General sir! That's how a wargaming table should look...
Are all the figures and scenery yours?
