On to rifles, carbines, lances and swords tonight

Made some more progress:
- started the rifles and carbines - brass & German straps to finish :)
- started the lances - tips and pennants to finish :)
- will do the swords when I do the lance tips but have done the scabbards :)
- have also done the haversacks, saddle bags and started bread bags and water bottles  :D

Have also been distracted again ...  :o ;D ;D ;D

Peter is looking at some 1/4,800 Tumbling Dice "Napoleonic" ships so I dug out some rules I wrote years ago aimed at fleet actions and had a look at scales. The interesting thing is that if you use 4cm to the cable (40cm to the nautical mile) the ground scale is very close to 1/4,800 [1/4,572] :o :D

Let me know how that goes, always wanted a Tumbling Dice fleet.

His new Russio-Japenese fleets are AMAZING btw.

I mentioned once in passing that TD make 1/4800 napoleonic naval ships as well as 1/600 planes.

Mrs Shy was somewhat unimpressed when our latest credit card bill arrived with PM 1917 stuff on it, even although I had told her about it. So don't expect me to order too much more for a while  =)

Did manage to score several brownie points by taking her to local fabric chain store in search of basecloth material. She got some stuff for herself as well and entered a competition. a few days later they rang up and told her she had won a sewing machine worth several hundred dollars  :-[

So plenty of time to finish 1914 and 1917 stuff and AWI militia before the 210th anniversary of Trafalgar refight  :)

Sounds like you earned and burned a few Brownie points there!  ;D

I'd say you were definitely in credit there, Pierre.  :-bd

If you are planning on ordering those 1/600 planes this year I might be interested in a naval purchase at the same time  :-\

Depending how much my 1917 purchase sets me back of course  ;) ;D

It would be a shame to miss the 210th  ;)

Last batch sorted onto bases to make way for the AWI Militia on the painting rods

Also organised cards and blinds for a game tonight involving most of the rest of the 1914 project  :)

Peter has been advised that his presence is required at a Quiz night so can't make it to the game  :(

Golly decent of him to provide the scenario and the troops  ;D

Glad it worked well....those Kuraissiers always seem to turn up at the wrong moment for the BEF  :(

FWIW we did well in the quiz and won a couple of bottles of very decent Central Otago Pinot Noir for coming second...then wife got a big bunch of flowers for having the lucky ticket number.

Have to go and buy some Lotto tickets at this rate.

The scenario worked very well, one minor suggestion that I will include with the battle report

Sounds like you have boosted your Brownie points, shame I'm in Christchurch next weekend
