Hi

I am in the process of "drawing" the CAD files for some interlocking mdf roads to test the concept. So far I have completed 6" straights, 6" end blank (ie interlock one end, blank the other, so you can butt it up to a house etc), and a 6" T section. Proof of concept are straight edged roads with an engraved rough texture to the top surface, if concept is proved will make curved sections and both modern roads with engraved road markings and older roads with loose stone and dirt effect engraving.

Also started on mdf wall files to enable the creation of both complete and ruined walls with 10mm brick texturing.

Before you ask pics will come in a couple of weeks all being well :-)

Cheers,

Craig

Hi,

Here's a pic of the CAD Drawing for the road test pieces, with a general "concrete" etched finish (just to check dimensions, fit and etch depth)

As stated in the previous post, straights pieces are roughly 150mm x 45mm (6" long").

Cheers,

Craig

Looks very promising.

Looks good, how prone to warping would they be ?, interested in the walls also

I haven't a clue yet Smokie, that's one of the reasons for doing some simple trial pieces  ;)

By the way, at this stage there's been no discussion with Leon regarding these and other plans I am working on for MDF scenery, but I am sure between us we can find a way getting products to customers if there's enough interest.

I've mdf roads at home and I sprayed them both sides, so if there is slight warping, I simply turn it over. Problem solved.

Re: the joints Craig, if you made them slightly dovetailed, they wouldn't come apart on the table. The down side is to take them apart they have to be lifted like Scalectrix track, if that makes sense?
