Indeed they did, and looking at the images it would seem that the riflemen are in a bush hat (soft fabric, smaller brim) and the Sten and Bren gunners are in an Aussie style slouch hat with the left brim pinned/folded up.

By the first winter the Aussies had generally adopted the Brit cammo suits and woolly hats, although I have seen images of the slouch hat and leather jerkin.
