Nice ships!

I cheated getting my fleets togheter, and just picked up a LOT of axis and allies prepaints. Good for a beer and pretzels game too!

Very neat, Will. But "Sheffield" does seem to be a name of ill-omen....

Very cool!  :ar!

I have a love-hate relationship with painting sea bases ... sometimes my efforts all most reduce me to  :'(

Only ever played Victory at Sea. If I had to, I'd pick up a copy of General Quarters from Navwar. Though I keep being told to try GQIII by American gamers ... but that version of the rules seems so much like hard work.

I have played a number of games of both GQ II &GQ III. III definitely adds more detail and different navies have different capabilities (not sure how they reflect variations within a navy).

II gives a good game with historic results with a lot less effort. Our GQ II scenarios seem to typically have about twice as many ships as the scenarios put on by the guys we know who are regular GQ III players. We always get to a result, they sometimes struggle to get a result over 6 hours.
