Bocage would stop artillery shells let alone bullets! Maybe you need a house rule or two?

Plus, when you send you platoon nco to wander around in view of the US mortar team, if they can't see anyone else they play the game of "how close can you drop a bomb to the kraut's head"! 2 wounds on a senior leader, not good in Chain of Command.

Let me define 'Wander around'.  Tucked up by a hedge, which mortars, which I didn't realise he had, ignore.

You'd need ultrasound to see through a bocage hedge - and then you'd have to slap gel on it first.
