How big are the units in the armys?

SV52

Rule book page 9 table 'Recommended Basing Conventions'.

I use 28mm figures, so kinda ignore base depths and figure numbers, use what suits instead.

Tyranid Genestealers, 2xWarband on 60mm x 60mm bases.

What about for 10mm, I am planning for 10 infantry and 5 cavalry or behemoths.

Could be fine. For the cavalry I like 6 in two lines. The cavalry could require much room in depth but HotT base depth is not strictly mandatory.

OK, so it depends on the figures.

You'll probably get 10 Human Medieval spearmen on a 40x20mm base.  Absolutely no chance for, say orcs with crossbows.  4 of those fill a base!

5 Cavalry will be tight.   Riders i'd go 3-4 figures on a 40x30mm base.

Behemoths - whatever works.  Trolls you'll get 3-4 per base, but could easily get 5-6 on.  Giants, 1 will do!

And well done for choosing Hordes of the Things!  Excellent ruleset that gives a great game.

Just a thought has anyone thought of playing HOTT or any fantasy with beautiful 10mm pendraken's and the evil empire 28's mixed??  Just thinking monsters her mainly i.e. demons and dragons with some converting for riders.  Been day dreaming about this one for a while as in 28's the monsters just arent big and scary enuff unless you use forgeworld beauties (my bank a/c aint that big  >:( ) so been thinking why not use 10mm with 28mm greeblies to get that vertical scale and sh*t your pants thing for poor little spearmen etc.

thoughts/ideas/opinions/suggestions??

I use some 28mm Reaper figs in my 15mm HoTT armies, nothing says Behemoth like a 28mm Minataur.

and CHEAP too.

So I'm thinking it would work nicely with 10mm as well, well it would have even more of the "Holy Bejabus, look at the size of that!" factor.

I use 10mm, 15mm and non-specific scale in one of my HOTT armies

The 10mm skeletons are in 3 ranks of 4 on a 40x20 base

It's based on the nursery rhyme - There was an old woman who lived in a shoe. She had so many children, she didn't know what to do;

In my version she goes to night school and studies to be a necromancer, kills all of the children, turns them into an undead army and sets out to conquer the world

Just about finished my Kislev army, that has some 15mm bears in it.

I'm also doing a thing at the moment with Pendraken figs on 100x50mm bases.

I have an old citadel 'true 28mm' troll on one of the bases.

My current army is made up for Ratmen, a mix between Large and Small, with Night Orcs as bowmen, Goblins as cavalry, and Haedusmen as beasts.  Any suggestions based on that?

With their size, how many would fit on a base?

If you have the figures and bases then why don't you try out some combinations?

As long as you and your opponent are aware of what the figures represent then you can do what you want
