This is a hard one!

I'd like to give you my favourites, i will not tell you wich ones i voted for to keep the tension, but will give a top 8 (in no particular order)

-Matt of Munslow - SYW Highlanders : really stunning work on the tartan! Interesting refreshing way too allign a unit too, not all bunched up
-Sigur - 30YW Croats really nice colors, bright but still toned down enough so they dn't look like they only wear the uniform for 5 minutes a day so it doesn't get dirty  :D and great banner!
-Matt of Munslow - French Hussars : very nice unit, wich lost it on the not so good picture i think. It's one of those units that i bet look stunning if you look at them in real liffe!
-whitejamest - Hetzer : splendid job on the camo
-Irregular Wars - Romano Brits / Saxons : great painting. with single figures the painting must be perfect, as ranks don't cover up small slip ups, and these are just perfect!!
-WeeWars - Stubborn mule : best diorama set up in the competition for me! so much going on! and the shadows being cast on the houses give it a touch of "real" for me! Supply wagon is great too, but can also be seen in here.
-Nosher - Polish Army : in love with the way the back row looks, with all the banners!
-fred12df - Landsknecht rocket launcher : best conversion in the comp, and very nice effect on the missile being fired!

So  my votes are going to 3 of these, now this gave me a headache ;)

tough choice...the standard of painting really went through the roof this year, many many outstanding entries to choose from
Well, but it has to be done: whitejamest - Late Romans must be my favourite this year, so this has naturally been my first choice. Second vote goes to Andreas Hofer, because he's an outstanding painter and really deserves it. Last one goes to WeeWars - Stubborn mule, an awesome diorama piece  :-bd

Having voted now, the sad thing is that if I were to vote again tommorrow I'd probably pick three different entries.  =)

Agreed!   ;D

I went with my choices based on 'which of these captures the essence of the model / period the best.

So for example, the Hetzer is a great paintjob, probably 'better' in terms of being cleaner and neater than the T34...but the T34 just captures the filth, grime, vicious cold and terrible conditions of the Eastern Front so much better.

That's the sort of thing i look for in a good model.   :)
