That's great Phil, glad to hear it.

Be warned, my Mum seems really settled most of the time but very occasionally, as I'm getting ready to go, Mum will announce that it's been nice to have a holiday "here" but she'll just go and get her things and we can go home. She gets quite upset when I explain that she is home. To be fair, fifteen minutes later she's forgotten all about it and is urging me to go so I don't miss my bus!

Must be a great relief, right enough.

Hope it all works out, Techno.

Thanks for all the feedback, chaps. :)

Von's going to go and see her today, and I'll try and pop in and see her tomorrow when I do the quick Thursday 'shop'.

Mike's comment was interesting about being 'there' for a holiday.
I don't think the MIL's going to do that... But she's really quite confused, as she thought she was in 'the home' at the hospital, because she was there for so many weeks.
She still knows who we are...But we think she's forgetting our actual names....Yesterday we were introduced to everybody as......"My Daughter & Son In Law."

Fingers crossed that she'll enjoy herself there.....might even 'slow down' the dementia if she'll interact with the other residents, a couple of whom thought I was a new member of staff. :o

Cheers - Phil

Sounds like she'll settle in, and the pressures on you and Von will ease.

Could be worse. They could have thought you were a new resident.

No, not healthy enough for a resident.

Sounds like she is settling in.

Having had 6 Boys and regular visitors my Mum was so used to being in the kitchen that when she eventually had to go in a home because of her dementia she kept on going in the kitchen to help with washing up after meals.  As it seemed to help her (and the staff) they let her continue to do it.  Even when we visited Mum would pop off to wash up after the afternoon tea round.

In the end we used to leave at that point as she was happily occupied and would not ask awkward questions about us taking her "home" , and by the time she finished she would forget we had been.

She's been there for less than two days and she's fallen over, and given herself a lump on the head.
Hey Ho !....

Better go over and see what she's done.

Blimey!

Hope she's OK.

Also hope it was something exciting like a failed attempt to recreate that scene from Dirty Dancing, but "Evans the Feeble" proved to be adequately described by the sobriquet.

She's fine....Thanks, Nobby ! :)

In fact, apart from a bit of a bruise on her forehead, she's as bright as a button.....Brighter than she has been for weeks.....even months.
Once she's settled in 'properly'....Which the carers said usually takes about a month.....Von and I think she'll love it over there.

(And she won the bingo, this afto'....And met the home's cat....She's well chuffed ! :-bd)

Cheers - Phil

Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

I'm glad she's fine. I can now add to my list of implausible ways in which she may have received said bump on the head.

1) Struck by a flying brick from an energetic dominoes match
2) Coming 2nd in the limbo competition
3) Demonstrating the Splot Kiss to another resident so the "b**** gets to know her place".
4) Braking too hard in the go-cart
5) A failed escape attempt
6) Twister
7) Failing to notice the frisbee
8 ) Not looking where she was going whilst eyeing up the next Mr MiL.

Of these, my preferred choice is no 3.

I'm really glad she seems to be settling in. Hopefully it will take some of the worry from you and Von.

Thanks, Chaps ! :)

To keep 'a bit more of an eye' on her, the carers have put a 'pressure pad' by the side of her bed......So if she gets up, and steps on that during the night, the carers will know she's up and about, and go and have a check on her.

Cheers - Phil
