Spent the last month with a bunch of Boers.... about 500 actually.  Had my most  productive painting month ever.  Nothing fancy but its my attempt to paint them fast and have them game ready not collector ready.  That's  the bad habit I developed with 28s resulting in a few good men who never had enough comrades to fight along side of.  Cranked out a little over 700 10's and 25 28's the last month averaging about 2 hours a day.  Hope to have the Boer War project complete by the end of the month (but that might be optimistic but I'm itching to game them so I'm motivated.  If successful, I'll have enough figures done in two months to do any battle of the war at approx 1:20.  Here's a couple more photos.

Will you be painting 30,000 zulus for them to fight ;D
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Or a similar number of Brits. Nice work, though.  8)

The Mounted Rifles are purchased, as are the rest of the Brits.  I should have 16-20 4 battalion brigades of infantry and I have enough mounted figure for around 45 six figure sqdrns.  The Brits and the Commonwealth troops are truly a snap to paint.  I just prep them with Army Painter Desert Sand primer, block in the details, swab on/mop off on some Soft Tone Quickshade and they look pretty fair.  I have 4 battalions done and will hopefull finish the rest off this month.  I did 160 (the Guards Brigade) while watching NCAA and NFL games over the first weekend of September.

The Boers were a little trickier.  I can honestly say that there are no two alike yet was able to still assembly line produce them with a little imagination and math.  It did take longer than the Brits per figure but I did the 600 while watching a downloaded replay of this years Six Nations Tourney.

Don't get me going me on the bloody Zulus.......   I have a sick thought of doing Isandlwana at 1:5.  With about 15,000 of the 20,000 actually engaged that would put about 5000 on the table against about 40-50 stands of Brits (4 std/company), Boers and NNC.   All the players (prob 4) would be playing against the semi robotic Zulu.  Each player would have a limited control in how the zulus furthest away from their units "behave".   I'm still playing in my head with this but the players would earn points for being both a team player as well as getting away with their hides still partially still attached to their rumps.  The general concept would be to have the players walk a razors edge in the game with the winner being the one to best balance the hold'em or fold'em concept in a poker like manner.   But the visual component achieved by putting 3-4000 Zulus out there would really help to instill that "oh sh*t what am I gonna do now" feeling that was probably running through the heads of a fair number of 2,000 doomed souls on that January morning.  That said, I have about 1,000 Zulus bought and buy some here and there as I make other purchases.  The OG, Perrin and Pendraken all mix nicely with the Barber being slid in albeit a little smallish.  Pait up in a snap too.....Krylon Ultra Flat Camouflage Brown from the local hardware store does most of the work just need to do the shields, weapos and a few white bits here and there.  Details? Who cares? If your looking for eyeballs then your missing the forest for the trees.  :D

Well I don't subscribe and the nearest gaming store to look at the porn for free is 5.5 hours away......hell everything metropolitan is 5.5 hours away...... but I do use their website for the free stuff.  I've been ogling the outtake photos of that shoot for over a month now.  Very cool stuff.

The most amazing part of all is that the game figure ratio is 1:1. They have attempted to model every single person that participated in the real battle, on a 32 foot long table. How awesome is that!  :o
