Technically not, since both times weather destroyed their fleet before they made land-fall in any force.  Hence the Japanese myth of the 'kamikasi' or 'Divine Wind'.

So they never actually 'lost' as the battles didn't really begin.  There were a few small scale engagements (recorded in the Japanese chronicles and interesting for the Mongol's use of 'grenades') but i don't think these can count as a battle or a defeat.

And of course its actually entirely possible that the Mongols did lose battles, but those losses are not recorded.

Irrespective, i still content they are the greatest military force in history.
