Gents,

Could anyone recommend a rules set for the colonial/19th century which would be suitable for 10mm figures?

Black Powder and Rank & File have a decent following...plus the various WMA variants that are knocking around online...what are you looking to recreate & what's your preferred style (eg ultra-detailed, top-down, bottom-up etc etc)?

Science vs Pluck is an excellent set of rules for Sudan. Really captures the period.

Battles For Empire is also quite good.

Jubilation T Cornpone

19th Century Principles of War does and exellent job with Colonial battles.

I am working on adapting Fire and Fury for the Sudan.

I have only used Battles For Empire for the Sudan. In my opinion they give a great evenings entertainment with everything to play for.

Plus points are:

Fixed bayonets, when do you commit for close combat as in doing you limit your ability to fire where you wish.

Random Dervish reinforcements each move.

Low ammo and replen, again an important factor in holding the line.

Variable move factors, the Dervish warriors can get close very quick.

Regeneration of units, so you can use destroyed units as new ones in the reinforcements stage (I can only paint so many Dervish warriors) about 20 units should do the trick.

On the down side the scenario set up can be tricky getting the balance of rifles v spears just right. But allocating points per unit type should be possible.
