Hope it's alright to post this here ...

Anyways, Future War Commander is currently on offer @ £12.50 (down from £20) plus postage. To quote the publisher "get 'em while they're hot!".

I've just ordered mine.

No connection, just a satisfied customer of Blitzkrieg Commander.

FWC is going to come in handy for my USCM vs Xenomorphs. And the Martian invasion of 1990 America. And ....  Wink

Cheers, Martyn

Now that's a real bargain  Shocked

Quality stuff - and not just cos I was a playtester & have got some painted minis in the book  Embarrassed

I might just have to pick up another copy - mine's pretty battered now from over-use  Cheesy

Also reminds me that I've got a nice FWC scrap set up in the games room which desperately needs dice bunging at it:

I've got a bunch of these backed up int he painting queue (entered one base in the 2012 painting competition!  Cheesy).
However, other priorities at the moment mean it'll be a while before i finish these off.
So i'm keen to see what you do with them.
Nik did some good 'LV426' themed stuff if i recall...

Mine are rooted in VSF which unfortunately Pete is very clear the FwC rules are not designed for... Sad

Doesn't stop me considering their use though, but a bit ropey knowing the author derides what you're planning...another thing i need to get round to finishing.  The British are done but i need to finish off the 'Cephalim' Martian overlords and their tripods (to go with my beastman hordes and 'spiders from Mars')...

Yeah, anyway...so Raider4, i'm looking forwards to seeing your toys!

Have you considered Strike Legion for VSF?...I have had a look at the free version of it, and the steampunk modules seem to be quite useful to

No i haven't Fenton.

I'll take a look.

I'm currently considering Hordes of the Things.  I've used them before for the VSF stuff and they are a joly good rulesent that gives a fun, decisive game.  I'm not sure they'll work with the tripods though (different tripods can't all be 'Behemoths'), and won't be much fun when the Earth colonial powers start to fight each other...

Land Ironclads should work, and personally cant see major problems with FWC, except designing units. Start point would be Bugs for tribals, and i syspect that the Regulars would be long ranged but with lower fire dice, at most save on 6, and perhappes lower hits.

FWC works fine for several periods - I've used it for the Russo-Japanese War and 1859 Italy with success

Hey Shed,

What mods did you use for FWC to play Russo-Japanese and 1859 wars?  Sounds cool.  Do you think FWC is better for those other periods than BKC?

FWC has enough variety with tactical doctrines and stats variables to avoid using mods

The RJW game was pretty basic - see http://twomarshals.blogspot.com/2011/10/10mm-rjw-solo-game-using-future-war.html for the Stats

For RJW Indirect Artillery I would mod it to include pre-planned barrages which FWC doesn't cover and drop the FAO CVs to represent broken telephone wires, lost and injured runners etc

BKC II includes a lot of the variable bits from FWC so probably could be used especially as it includes offshore naval bombardment and indirect artillery rules that better represent the RJW

The 1859 game again used basic FWC stats. However I changed the way the Command worked as I had Brigadiers and Divisional & Corps commanders

Brigadiers rolled Command dice as per normal FWC - 8 for the French  & 7 for the Austrians

Divisional & Corps commanders each rolled a die which gave them so  many points to add to subordinate Brigadier's rolls.

The game write up which included the stats was deleted. Pictures are available at http://www.flickr.com/photos/alanmillicheap/sets/72157622950074405/

I can happily justify using FWC for historical wars by viewing the armies as very-very-very low tech although I might draw the line at using it for ancient and medieval but watch this space Smiley

Speaking as someone who was in retail for a long time, this means either a) they're about to bring out a new version soon, or b) times is 'ard.  Sad

I believe that Pete has made the decision that he wont be doing any more print runs of his rules, ever. That means that you'll have to get the Lulu version, without the pretty coulour piccies, this would indeed explain the price mark-down, he just wants shot of the last few.

Do you know why?   Shocked

Given the evident success of all three rulesets, this seems odd.
For many people they seem to be the 'go to' rules for 10mm gaming.

Think it was summat to do with the small profit margin, they were and still are a bargain at £20, and no supplements. He'll still get some income from the print-on-demand place with no big cost/storage/postage issues.
