Yay, I've finally worked it out! So here goes, third attempt at posting pics:

Small sci-fi tripod. Based entirely on the cover of Jeff Wayne's album, which I listened to while painting this:

Obvisouly the base still needs doing. Don't know whether to go green (for Horsell Common) or sandy (for the British invasion of Mars).

I must say it's a lovely model. I still have a large one to build, and two more small ones on order.

Cheers, Martyn

Very nice  Thumbs up

Go sandy, then you can just put some foliage on to switch to common-mode  Wink

Thank you all for the kind words. Now need to get cracking and get the Brits done. And the other tripod built. And await the next order to arrive.

Progress! My other two small tripods have finally made it through the assembly & paint shops to join 'Tom'.

Tripod 2 ('Dick'), with recessed heat-ray:

Tripod 3 ('Harry'), with heat-ray extended:

And a couple of group shots:

What's the collective noun for Martian tripods? I quite like 'triumph'. A triumph of tripods. Rolls right off the tongue.

Right, now I need to start on some opponents. And also build the large tripod ('Peggy') I have.

Good job, Raider  Wink

It give me a lot of ideas for my own two tripods (Martians & locals lizardmen VS aliens invasors on a desertic planet). I'm now with the scenics (jungle, buildings...) and I will start painting soon.
