Thanks chaps.
These are really nice figs by Clib. They paint up easily. I have tried to add the characteristic coloured patches and borders to tunics. The shield designs are intended to be authentic. There is a surviving document called the Notitia Dignitatum  which lists all the units in both the east and western Roman  armies.

I am playing fantasy using Hail Caesar it is great fun, it is so easy to adapt to fantasy. I will be trying out a dinosaur army in the next week or so. Best start anew thread for this I think.

Looking good.  I really like 'em.

So whats the difference between Hail Caesar and Warmaster Ancients?   I would think using WMA would be the way to go for ancients instead of converting 10mm to basing scheme for HC?  I dont know since I do not have HC.   ;)

I don't know, as I only have HC!  ;)

HC is pretty relaxed on basing, figures act as units, which generally stay in battle line, infantry and cavalry units have the same footprint. Unlike WM where individual stand positioning matters. If you base for WM then you easily make HC units from 4 or 6 stands. If your WMA cav is long based then 2 stand units are possible.

HC refined and streamlined the rules and mechanisms from WMA. Units move as blocks of troops, and multi move orders are carried out in 1 movement, not a bunch of sequential ones, comabts can be drawn out allowing reserves to be thrown in. All in all it plays better. But they are similar rulesets.

The one tweak we have made to HC is to roll 3d6 for break tests, discarding the lowest dice. This reduces some of the randomness associated with a 2d6 break test.
