Space in Bunker scenics

These appear to have lift-off tops.  How large a stand would fit inside PS24 and PS23.  Or is that an illusion, and the scenic is solid?  No cover, but how large for PS18?  My stands of interest are 40mm square gun stands and 40x30 MG and infantry stands.
