Well, he certainly had a bash at unifying the Arab world did he not and is described as an Arab by culture, language and inclination? And it's shorthand  Smiley

Meaning the handful of Arab tribes making a skimpy living on the fringes of the Turkish world that was the Islamic middle east, be it in language, customs, literature, military styles?
And that "shorthand" could be used as a useful cloak for all sorts of language that I'd offend people even by quoting.

The Arab figs are a good all round fig for all Islamic armies of the period Ive got them in my Andalusian army as Berber foot and horse,also used Pendraken Normans in the Andalsusians which gives a good a good mix.
