Hi Everyone!
Glad to see this sub-forum has been set up.
I had a question about the Chinese Warlord Era miniatures, and what would be viable in the requests section of the forum. The idea would be to use them in 'Back of Beyond' type battles. After some good input from people, and some research, here is what I could scratch together.
First of all, I managed to find that someone else had done a lot of the work already. Thank you Dr Phalanx! His Blog has a great rundown of what figures can be used from the Pendraken lists:
http://doctorphalanx.blogspot.com/2017/01/10mm-chinese-warlord-armies-for-red.html His blog is a great source of info, and has lots of pictures of the figures!
Firstly: I'll repeat what he has listed there.
Dr Phalanx's List:
Northern ArmyPendraken Code: Use As: RP6 and RJ3 Northern Infantry
NW4 and NW5 Bandits / Irregulars fighting for the north
RJ5 Northern HMG
FRE58 Armoured Cars
JP7 'Dare to Die' Infantry
RA8 Mongol / Irregular Cavalry
Southern ArmyPendraken Code: Use As: BP1, BP41,RP1 Southern Infantry
SCW34 and SCW32 Southern Assault Troops
SCW35 Southern Officers
VM2 and VM3 Pesant 'recruits'
RP2 Southern HMG
RP3 Southern Cavalry
ME19 Southern Armoured car
ArtillerySome mixing/matching will need to be done on the crews for these guns. See Dr Phalanx's blog on what is needed.
Pendraken Code: Use As: RP4 Atrillery
AH10 Mountain Gun
VM14 3 inch mortar
As you can see, the above is a very extensive list.
I have a couple of additions that I think may be suitable too:
Pendraken Code: Use As: IP1 / IP11 Assault Troops
SCW24 Assault SMG
SCW 25 Chinese Officer
SCW 131 Chinese High Command
If you have any additions to the above list, drop them in the comments below and we can keep building them. At the time the Warlords era was raging in China, the Russain Civil war was also in full swing. Many populations were escaping over the border from Russia, only to find themselves caught up in what was foing on in China. If you wish to add some Russian Reds or Whites, either as mercanaries or just meddling forces trying to get a toehold in the region (it did happen) you can get most of your figures from the WW1 Russian line, as well as the 'interwar' Russian civil war line. I hope we can compile and create a suitable list of proxies for the Russian Civil war in the future too, and that will add some more 'flavour of the time' to your games.
