Welcome - what you said is true- the on table games pull you in, in a way the PC game fails!

Welcome back to the hobby! Solo isn't the only option - as we've all been forced to discover this year, it is possible to game remotely in various ways. Maybe you'll find some kindred spirits you can battle on Zoom or whatever?

1870 - excellent choice. Lots of good gaming to be had from the Franco-Prussian War, especially in this 150th anniversary year.

Bloody Big BATTLES!

by zoom? I didn't imagine that

For now I must choose witch rules/scales to use, I'm more grand tactical. BBB could be an option. So far I consider Polemos Komandant der armee.
I have read some rules and I'm surprise how simple they are now. there 30 years ago most of the rules was very complex, specially those for 10/6mm.
I will open a tread in rules section

Welcome onyrevient :-h

The ECW range has many very nice figures and I can strongly recommend the For King & Parliament rules which are derived from Simon Miller's To the Strongest Ancient and Medieval rules.
They were co-authored by a forum member, Mollinary. They work very well solo and their is some work under way to extend them to the 30 Years War

good to know but for now I must focus on 1870  ;)

I have to say I'm exactly opposite, I find computer games much more immersive.

A tabletop game is just the hook on which to hang the banter and badinage with friends.

I am much more invested in the fates of my little electronic heroes and have much more of a sense of "being there."

Of the two experiences I prefer the former but that's for the company not the game.

"Welcome back to the fight - this time I know our side will win"

I have been "in and out" off gaming myself over the years.....but its like the Hotel California - you can check out but you can never leave.

Anyway, best of luck with your future gaming plans and welcome to the forum.

Mrs Orcs thinks I " checked out " a long time ago :)
