This is an army I painted for a friend. They are based according to the Might And Reason rules:

I have a complete album, including the officers:

Nice work!

I was beginning to type a question to ask where you got the infantry casualty from, but then I remembered  :-[

Good stuff!

We could do with some more casualties/dead markers!

He he.
The dead and injured from the AWI range are very helpful. For example: same mini, different colors and:

You can have the Royal- Suedois!

Pretty good but i think your Burgundians are better.

The basing here detracts from the figures i think, with the static grass used being slighty overwhelming.

Quality painting none-the-less.   :D

Everytime I see a new set of photos, I want to buy something else...

Nice job of painting.

I have neither the time or the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Very nice - I'm kind-of with Luddite though: the static grass here is distracting from the lovely figures..!

I've long held to the adage that the basing is the most important part of the figure.

A great base makes a poor figure look good.

A poor base makes a great figure look average.

That said, i just can't seem to get my own basing right...   :(

Unlike my friend Graeme, who's basing i am most envious of...http://www.durhamwargames.co.uk/battle_reports/2010/02/index.asp ...mind you spends as much time on the bases as he does on the figures...

Thanks.
your remarks are noted. I'll try to do better next time ;)

Luddite

I've use static grass at 10mm with similar results!

Actually, i'd appreciate some advice from the good folk here about how to base well at 10mm...  :D

I'm not in total agreement here. I like the tall grass, it softens the base material and places the figures in natural terrain.  Too many times, figures are standing on either rock quarries or golf greens!  Scale must be taken into account though.  I prefer static grass in 2 and 4mm height for 10mm figs. 6mm grass would come up to one's chest and completely obscure the figure unless it is "layed down"  The region and terrain type must be taken into account as well.  I would hazard to say most European battles would be upon anything from short cropped pasture to chest high wheat.  I think a happy medium of ankle to knee high grass would be appropriate. I like the casualties portrayed on the bases, I haven't thought of doing that as I place casualties figs on separate bases and place them when and where they occur and/or they follow along with the unit to indicate the unit's status.
Basing is a very tricky art, as Luddite has said. You don't want to overdo it, you want to get it just so. Finding that perfect balance takes practice.
